It's an emotional night on the Nightwatch in New Orleans as one EMS officer tells his partner that this is their last night on the job. Meanwhile, it's a tough night in a different way for the fire fighters as the group responds to a call about a truck on fire after a collision at a gas station. It's a night that serves as a reminder that the people of the Nightwatch aren't just there for their city--they're there for each other.

For the men and women on the Nightwatch, two things never stop: the calls and the questions. How can someone shoot an eight-year-old boy? How do you stop the drug epidemic in the worst parts of New Orleans? How do you get guns off the city streets? As the first responders do everything they can do save the victims of several shootings, a drug overdose, and more; and the police officers chase suspects who end up having illegal firearms, they find themselves asking these questions--and only wishing they had the answers.

Amber and Michelle Yates--daughters of serial killer Richard Yates--tell the inside story of being raised by a man who terrorized the city of Spokane, Washington. The episode reveals devastating details and chilling home videos of a strict father who disciplines his children by day, and hunts innocent women by night. In their effort to find healing, the sisters meet with the sister of one of their father's victims to share their sorrow and regret for his life-shattering crimes.

Randy Hausner--brother of serial shooter Dale Hausner--shares the inside story of a man who terrorized the city of Phoenix in a year and a half-long killing spree. He reveals his brother's never before seen journal disclosing a chilling view on the development of a killer. In an effort to share his family's remorse with the victims, Randy meets with a shooting survivor as well as with the son of a man killed by his brother.

Richard Beasley was a conman and serial killer who posed as a preacher and in 2011, posted advertisements on Craigslist to entice men to work with him on his farm. Once on the property, Beasley hunted them down like wild animals, then killed and buried them. In this episode, his daughter Tonya, who lives with the guilt of teaching her father how to post ads on Craigslist, meets Nick Kern, whose father, Timothy was one of Beasley's four victims.

Mildred Muhammad--ex-wife of infamous "DC Sniper" John Allen Muhammad--reveals how the man she loves disintegrated into a monster who threatens to kill her. And in an interview from prison with Melissa Moore, Muhammad's teenage accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo, provides the inside story of how the man he viewed as a father, led him on a cross-country shooting spree that would kill 17 people and wound at least 10 more.

On June 12, 2016, Omar Mateen walked into Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida and massacred 49 people while wounding an additional 53, in the deadliest attack in American history. Despite pledging himself to the Islamic State, a life-long struggle with his own internal demons and sexual identity may have been the root cause of his murderous rage. Nobody was more familiar with those demons than his first wife, Sitora Yusufiy. In this emotional episode, shot only a few weeks after the massacre, Sitora meets Aryam Guerro, whose brother was killed by Mateen.

Bergen County (NJ) Chief of Detectives Robert Anzilotti elicited murder confessions from a vicious but relatively unknown serial killer--Richard Cottingham, nicknamed the Torso Killer. He was serving five life sentences for targeting prostitutes in 1980 in New York City. Anzilotti suspected Cottingham might also be responsible for other unsolved murders of schoolgirls in the late '60s and mid-'70s, across the Hudson River from Manhattan. Anzilotti made it his mission to tie Cottingham to these murders and to get him to confess.
